WHAT TO BRING (there will be more info in the newsletter about this)
Sunscreen
Light, comfortable athletic clothing that meets school dress code:
Hat/Sunglasses
Light colored shirt (it doesn’t hurt to bring an extra one)
Athletic shorts
Running type shoes (don’t wear boots, Vans, or high tops . . . trust me)
Socks
A light rain jacket you can keep in your
BACKPACK
Brass/Percussion/Woodwinds – a 1 or 1.5 inch binder with PAGE PROTECTORS for your music
a lanyard for your drill cards
a hip pack (not required but helpful) for the field so you don’t have to run off and on the field all the time for little things
a 1/2 or 1 gallon INSULATED cooler
Make sure you eat before you come to practices and eat at dinner or lunch breaks
That is the google drive folder with music, drill (eventually) and other stuff. You can print off music now (except for movement 3) and load it into your binders so that you are prepared for rehearsal.
IN YOUR FOLDERS
WARM UPS – in the folder
CHORALE – its called Holsinger Warmup
MOVEMENT 1, 2 (3 eventually)
WHAT PART DO I PLAY? – we will decide that very soon, but if you are positive you know what part go for it. If you don’t know, plan on playing the 2nd part or a lower split when there are more than one notes. This is all subject to change!
Lastly, brass and woodwind player will need to bring a lyre and flip folder for stand music, the anthem and fight song/alma mater. We will be using these 8/31 at our first football game, so grab one now if you don’t have one. They are available at local music stores and Amazon.
IN YOUR FLIP FOLDERS
Fight Song
National Anthem
Alma Mater (if it is in there, can’t remember)
Stand Music (as added)
There will be copies available in the band room for you for everything, but it does not hurt to get a head start!
That’s it for now! Keep your eyes peeled for the newsletter coming out next week and see you all very soon!
Mr. Ross
