Mr. Ben Glosser

Brass, Woodwinds & Percussion Staff — Great Bridge High School Band

A classically trained saxophonist and clarinetist, Mr. Glosser earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Old Dominion University, where he studied with the renowned Dennis Zeisler. His teaching career includes positions at Grassfield and Oscar Smith High Schools, where he earned three Virginia Honor Band Awards — one of the state’s highest recognitions for musical achievement and program excellence.

Mr. Glosser is passionate about developing both the musical skills and personal growth of his students. He creates a positive, energetic, and inclusive learning environment where young musicians are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. His ensembles consistently earn superior ratings at district assessments and festivals, and his students regularly qualify for district and regional honor bands.

Before joining Great Bridge Middle School, Mr. Glosser worked as a high school band director, marching band director, and music arranger. He remains an active performer and educator in the Chesapeake area, frequently collaborating with local ensembles and supporting youth music initiatives.

In addition to his work in the band room, Mr. Glosser is committed to building a strong sense of community and belonging among his students. He is known for his creative programming, thoughtful approach to student leadership, and dedication to making band an inclusive and welcoming space for all.

Outside of teaching, Mr. Glosser enjoys spending time with his wife and their young son, who already loves dancing along to music in the band room! His wife, Jessica, is the owner of a successful local dance studio, and together they share a passion for the performing arts and arts education in the community. When he’s not in the band room, you can often find Mr. Glosser cooking, working on DIY projects, or cheering on his family at dance competitions and recitals.
